Anxiety Disorder?

Hello. I am 20 years old and have had a fear of driving for about three years. It has gotten progressively worse until I finally cannot drive across the street. I was recently diagnosed with PCOS and was wondering if there is a link between the two. I have anxiety in other areas as well. I am a full time student and cannot get to class. I am not sure what to do anymore. I am thinking about seeking help. Even if I was to seek help I know that there is no quick fix and I might be in trouble for quite a while, what should I do about school? I have no one to drive me. I feel really isolated at my apartment and can only go places if someone can pick me up or drop me off. I need help. Anyone else ever deal with this? Any advice? Is this considered a disability until I can receive and benefit from treatment?
I have panic attacks, which are very painful. Last time I attempted to drive, I told myself that I was being ridiculous and that everyone can drive. I found my self unintentionally holding my breath and almost passed out. I pulled over and vomited on the side of the road. I don’t drive anymore. I was thinking about trying to get driving lessons. My car is a clunker and I thought if I got a new car that it would relieve a little bit of the stress. Where do I start to get help?
I looked into the bus thing, they are all way to far. I wish I could take a bus everywhere then the problem would be solved (:. I know that anxiety runs in the family. I think I am going to bring this all up on the 7th when I go to the doctor.

listen, i am a therapist. this is really easy to deal with. you must find a therapist experienced in dealing with this with hypnosis that TEACHES self hypnosis. then you need to practice your self hypnosis each and every day with the suggestions that you two work out AND an ANCHOR. that is part one of the 3 legged stool. you will do this TWICE daily for 20 minutes each session.

2nd part is what you are eating. look up "whole foods diet" on the net or at askwaltstollmd.com in the archives

and then daily exercise. if you are not already… start with 15 minutes of gentle walking and work up to 60 minutes a day over 1-2 months.

I also have PCOS. I suffer from bipolar, manic depression and OCD anxiety disorder. I’m not sure if there is a correlation between PCOS and anxiety disorders but for sure therapy and possibly medication can help. As for getting to school, I don’t know where you live but you can always try taking a bus/trolley, etc. Maybe you can even hire someone to drive you. At my school there are fliers for people if they need a ride to school. Eventually with therapy, etc you can probably get over your fear of driving.

xanax or valium would be a quick fix for now until you can see your doctor and explain all the symptoms!! the reason why xanax, valium, etc… are such good meds, is because they are very fast acting. im talking 15 minutes and your calm as a cucumber. lol!!! these drugs are only used for periods not to exceed 4-8 weeks, unless under close supervision from your physician!!! any more questioins? e-mail me!!!
