Natural anxiety remedy when withdrawing from Ativan or other benzo?

I’m tapering down from 4 mg of Ativan and feel pretty bad sometimes. Does anyone know of a natural anti-anxiety remedy that is okay to take with the Ativan to take the edge off of withdrawal? Thanks.

There are two sides to this answer. First, many people find help from anxiety from doing some moderate exercise (walking, jogging, etc) or calming exercises like meditation.
There are some herbs and natural supplements that can help as well (I can give you a few names if you’d like), but I wouldn’t recommend taking any of those without checking with a pharmacist or doctor to make sure it’s safe with the drugs getting out of your system.

The more important thing I wanted to say is that there are some things that can help cleanse out the toxins and may help to minimize some of the effects of withdrawal…
Drinking water will help to detox, and taking some supplements that work as cleansers may help as well. Specifically, Apple Cider Vinegar, Green Tea (decaffeinated), Chlorophyll (fantastic cleanser), and even good amounts of fiber and water helps some people (although it’s not very comfortable for the lower level of detoxification you get).

    It is definitely possible to overcome anxiety naturally without drugs, but I am not sure that there is a single thing that will provide immediate relief during your withdrawal period. Instead, you might have to take a few weeks to change your lifestyle by incorporating activities like yoga and meditation, modifying your diet to include lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, a lot of water, no refined sugars, no processed foods, etc. and once your body is completely restored your anxiety should go away.

    One thing that may provide fast relief, however, is acupuncture. Tell your acupuncturist that you have anxiety and they should be able to help.

    Kava Root in liquid extract form. This can be found at most vitamin stores. Some people put 40 drops in juice/water and drink it. I prefer to buy empty gel capsules and fill them. Within minutes you feel like you’ve just taken a low dose of valium or had a glass or two of wine. It very relaxing.
