What is a good controversial health topic I could write about for a school paper?

For English class, I can’t seem to think of a good topic to write about. I’m looking for a topic that has lots of sources and is very arguable. This topic has to relate to the health care somehow.

If possible, please include a source that can get me started on the topic. For this paper, I need 8 sources, most of which are from articles and also one interview (i could always do an email interview).

any suggestions?
I like all the ideas, but note that I’ll have to develop many ideas and back it up in my thesis. A suggestion such as genital multilation might work, but there would only be one reason to support it which is freedom of religion and speech.

hmm more suggestions, that I could get easy information on and build a strong case?

Child prostitution

Write about the debate surrounding whether the government has the right to force young girls (12-17-years-old, i think) to be vaccinated for HPV, the virus that causes cervical cancer. There should be a lot of information on that. It’s all over talk radio and the arguments are rather intriguing.

well if u want a controversial topic the best bet would be to write abt y ppl choose to slim down to an extent that they get anorexia n die……though it is good to stay slim…too much of dietinbg makes u loose the essential vitamins n proteins leading to deficiency diseases…then u could elaborate on the diseases specifically ……..otherwise u ould say abt y ppl use cosmetics to keep thamselves fair wen dark colour is preferable…..if ur fair u can easily get skin diseases n allergies….u can b influenced more by the uv radiations…..but if ur dark………..ur melanin pigment protects u from having skijn disaeses to an extent……so ppl must stop using things to keep themselves fair.wen tanned skin is much healthier….these r quite simple topics for which u can easily get a source…..if u want to email me

I would say the manipulation of genetics in embryos. For parents to choose the features of their babies, and or to exclude a genetic disease, more like a Build-A-Baby.

Genitle mutilation. My friend did a thing on it, you wouldn’t believe the controversy she stirred up. Like question as to whether or not the government should interviene in the religious practice of it on girls or not.

A friend of mine did her thesis on the patients right to privacy vs. the healthcare workers right to know. She brought up a lot of good points for both sides. As a pediatric nurse, as sad as it is to say, we don’t always take the "standard" precautions we should….unless we know someone is actually a risk.

Why the majority of the female population prefer to go to a male doctor and not support the female doctors.
Do men actually know what is done in a female physical exam, such as why do doctors not use gloves when doing breast exams. Why do women get breast exam by doctors when only 2 tenth of a percent of lump/cyst or problems are found,1.8 % by self exam,98 % by mamography.
Why do men not go to female doctors in larger numbers as women have no problem going to a male doctor.

How about those people that use in-vetro fertilization to get pregnant and then when they are pregnant with a litter of babies choose which ones they abort based on sex? There are tons of sites about IVF, a few of which I have listed below.

    It’s called selective abortion.

what about organ donation for people who have been abusive to their bodies? Such as liver donation for hepatitis C. Either that or just organ transplants. There are tons of sources out there for both of these issues–just look up hepatitis treatment or organ donation information. Either that or another one that is very controversial is– if you get the news that you have a disease that is serious but no one can tell by just looking at you should you tell your family members when you know it will cause a lot of pain? Do you have the right to keep this to yourself or out of obligation should you tell the family?
